The title and abstract of my session:

TDD vs BDD: from developers to customers

TDD is a famous agile practice which bases its strength on the possibility to produce simple and emergent design and inspires confidence with our software. BDD merge TDD’s advantages and move focus from developer to customer perspective and business process.

In this practice-talk we’ll compare TDD and BDD and try to mix them using an acceptance test framework like fitnesse to meet customer’s requests and emphasize business processes to model with our software.

Real World Test Driven Development

Test Driven Development is gaining a lot of appreciation in these years due to it’s relevance in the development of quality software applications. Even if it’s not a real testing practice (it is a design practices) it has the nice side effect that your tests suite become bigger as your software grows giving you immediate feedback about your project quality status.

In this session we will see how to apply TDD in a real application starting from the first tests that add a little functionality. We will see how TDD helps us to keep a clean design and how it give us the rhythm (red-green-refactor) and how to use mock objects and stub to keep test isolated from infrastructural environment.

It is a very practical session with live coding.

V UgiALT.NET conference: call for presenters

We set the date and the location: Milan (Italy), 23rd January 2010.

Like the last one this edition agenda will be built by the community proposals, so if you have an idea for a session topic that you like to talk about send an email to cfp@ugialt.net with a brief abstract.

We wait for your proposal until the end of November then we start with the pool to select the sessions for the conference day.

UgiALT.net Conference

A little bit in late here it is my post about the 4th ugiALT.net conference of 27th june.

I’m very satisfied of the day, the number of partecipant is growing and we were in 70, the multi-disciplinar sessions are very interesting and the interactive way of doing them drag the people attention.

After two months in which we collected the sessions proposal for the next UgiALT.NET conference, today we published the list and opened the poll for vote your preferred sessions.

We are very satisfied about the collected sessions, 18 proposals on variuous arguments all with something very interesting.

Some of the arguments are: Mono, XNA, Rhino ETL, UIX design, CI, Spring.NET, Scrum, etc…

So now it’s time to vote your five preferred sessions and wait until the 27 June to came to listen and discuss with us.

Third UgiALT.NET conference

Last Saturday there was in Milan the Third Italian ATL.NET Conference. Simone has just posted about this here.

It was a marvellous day with interesting topics and joyful people.

The OpenSpace format works well and suddenly everyone feels ok by asking, answering and discussing about the topics during the speech and after the speech.

We talked about

User Stories (I and Antonio)
Domain Driven Design (Roby and Antonio)
IronRuby (Ivanc0mes from Belgium to talk!)
Test Driven Development and Unit Testing (I and Claudio)
Fitnesse (Jacopo)

One nice consideration is that we never talked about .NET Framework, most of the speaker’s laptop used was a Mac with mono on it…and that’s is very cool!

Third italian ALT.NET conference

By now we have the date, 24Th January 2009 and the location, the Breda Innovation Center in the offices of SourceSense. The agenda is in defining phase e you can say what you prefer by voting on our poll.

But we have one session defined, the one on IronRuby because Ivan Porto Carrero (the author of IronRuby in Action) will came from Belgium for talk with us at the conference…you can’t miss this opportunity!

The format is the open space, so no speakers ma space for everyone to talk, ask, show code and tell your experience about .NET development and agile practices.

Second Italian ALT.NET (medium) conference

It’s official, fix the date: 14-06-2008, fix the location: Milan.

That’s the day of the second ALT.NET Conference, if you want to join us you can take a look here (sorry the page is in Italian ).

The day is focused on developing a blog engine using the agile methodologies, the ASP.NET MVC, IoC and all the others things that we like.

During this days, we are planning to write some stories that we will implement at the conf, so you can help us if you want on the mailing list of italian ALT.NET movement (here).
